DAY TEN

Three coats of primer and two coats of undercoat (International pre-kote), its lookinh quite good; still a few lumps and bumps to sort out before the final top coats go on but overall looking good.

DAY NINE

Lot done today, its been the first relatively warm day for a while so managed to get the port hull epoxied - it was much better using a metal scraper to spread the resin around, it won't be perfect but as long as its sealed and waterproof that's all that matters to me.

Also put on the first coat of primer, using International primer. It went on really well and was touch dry pretty quickly. Just need to wait until it's completely dry and I can fill areas which I have missed and give it another coat.

DAY EIGHT

Quite a lot done today, refitted the two port hull runners - they had snapped when removing them so had to careful to join them back up with more epoxy - there not perfect but a few coats of paint should set them right.

Also managed to laminate the starboard hull with resin, the west foam rollers are useless bits of foam kept breaking off and getting stuck in the resin!!! From now on I'm going to use a metal spatula or scraper to spread the resin around.

DAY SEVEN

Filling and sanding....it never ends! Cleaned out all the old filler covering the screws and replaced with 2 part wood filler from Ronseal, it's not specifically for marine use but I figure its getting covered in epoxy so it doesn't really matter. Managed to complete the starboard hull and sides in about an hour so not too difficult.

DAY SIX

Finally did something else other than sanding (although I did manage another 3 hours of that as well). Got the epoxy resin out, was a bit nervous as I'd never used it before so wasn't entirely sure what to expect. Anyway had a go at mixing some quite thick epoxy - got the instructions from West online as its their products I'm using, this was to repair the stern where the ply had delaminated and rotted, hopefully the epoxy will have done the trick but I'll have to wait until its dry to see how solid it feels!

Also put on two of the runner strips on the starboard side, using a bonding epoxy (as per West instructions), bonded the strips back on the hull keeping them in place with brass tacks. Also ran down the edge of each runner with a slightly thicker fillet of epoxy to ensure they are fully bonded and waterproof.

DAY FIVE

More sanding! At least another 4 hours, concentrated on around the daggerboard and the stern.

Unfortunately there is a bit of rot and delamination on the stern, dug it all out with the idea to replace it with epoxy. Here is a picture of the damage that needs repairing:
